Light, Land, and the Stories Between

Nancy Takaichi is a plein air oil painter capturing the fleeting beauty of California’s landscapes. From sunlit lakes to misty meadows, her work celebrates light, place, and the quiet moments that define them.

About

As a plein air painter, I work on location, drawn to the patterns of light and shadow that shape each landscape. I aim to capture what makes a place unique by distilling it down to its most compelling elements—always led by composition and a strong sense of light. Painting outdoors deepens my connection to the land and invites me to tell the story of a moment in time, whether shaped by season, climate, or change. My work reflects a lifelong dedication to observing and honoring the natural world through oil paint.
