I was the guest speaker for the Los Gatos Art Association member’s meeting and described the process, tips and tricks of painting Plein air. And then I gave a quick demo of how I approach painting the outdoors. It was an honor to be asked and the next day, we had a few new folks come out to paint with us, so I must have said something to make people want to give it a try…. maybe that Plein Air painting is the fountain of youth? Not sure…..
I was pleased to be asked to join a dozen artists for 9 days of painting in Brittany, France. What a wonderful experience! No instructors, just lots of painting, exploring, and home-cooked meals to share with my new best friends! I extended my trip with my travel companion, and painter extraordinaire, Jan Norsetter. We explored beaches, parks and the towns of Brest and Dinan. Unforgettable!
I was thrilled to be accepted into the Los Gatos Plein Air 2019- I was one of 24 artists selected from a large pool of applicants from all over the country. We had a 25-mile radius to paint and the event is run by the non-profit Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club. A large portion of the proceeds fund local Arts Programs. Here’s the work I did in three days:
Come see the work and meet the artists of the Los Gatos Art Association at our reception. If you can’t make it, this juried art show will be up through the end of 2018, at the Jewish Community Center 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos, CA. Stop by any time! Most of the work is available for purchase.
For three days, Nancy and Randall Stauss team taught an eager group of students in Lake Tahoe the basics of plein air painting at some of the most beautiful locations on the lake. Please contact me if you are interested in a future workshop!
